The legend of a city
The other side of the coin
Mercedes Kadir ''Fatih KAYDI'' was born on May 1st, 1984 in MALATYA. He has been mentally handicapped since birth.
From a young age, he admired the Mercedes cars of his neighbors from Germany and always wanted to have a Mercedes car himself. He loves washing carpets with his mother Sıddı Zeynep and his sister Sema. When washing the carpets, he always climbs on the pole of the brush, which he considers to be his car, and drives his car in front of the house.
Over time, his admiration for Mercedes cars grew. His mother and sister were bothered by the fact that he always took his brooms with him and ran around outside.
So his father Mesin cut down and carved a “poplar” for him. Kadir started driving this vehicle through his street, his neighborhood, his district and finally through Malatya.
When he saw how much interest people, especially shop owners, had in his vehicle, his fondness for it grew even more.
Over time, this interest became known and recognized not only in Malatya, but also in the neighboring provinces, throughout Anatolia and throughout Turkey.

This project is about a day in the life of Mercedes Kadir,
It focuses on the daily rituals that are constantly repeated in his life.
Every morning, Mercedes Kadir eats his breakfast of eggs, puts on his suit, gets dressed in front of the mirror in his brother Mehmet's room and goes out.
He goes to the village garage to pick up his car, which earned him the nickname “Mercedes Kadir”, and picks up his car parked in the village garage.
After driving his car, he lights a “Murattı or Samsun 216” cigarette as usual, sets off for Malatya and in the evening returns his car to the village garage to park it again.
When he returns home, he buys 3-5 pieces of meat, which he calls Kavurma, for his mother with the money he earns from the traders, and he enjoys eating the pieces of meat cooked on the stove with their broth.
In his room, where he falls asleep at the end of the day, he always watches films by Kemal SUNAL...
It is a shame that the city and society's celebrities are not interested in Mercedes Kadir and his family, that state institutions, local and central municipalities, social institutions and organizations, relevant ministries are not interested in him, that local business people do not know his family life and act irresponsibly, that Mercedes Kadir leads a difficult and tiring life outside of his visible and known life!
The other side of the coin is anything but funny, sympathetic and optimistic!
